From 9 to 11 May The Hackable City and Frank Alsema from Stadslab Buiksloterham visited Athens, where our local partner Dimitris Charitos of the Laboratory of New Technologies in Communication, Education and the Mass Media of the University of Athens helped us to create a program with several citymaking initiatives to visit and discuss. The NTLab is active in research and development in the fields of interaction design, multimedia, virtual environments, mobile communication and locative media, adaptive, personalized and intelligent systems, visual communication and visual design, computer‐mediated communication, game studies, social media, etc.
Here is the list of initiatives we visited:
- Akalyptos 2.0
- Place Identity Gr
- Green park
- 100 Resilient Cities
- Refill Athens
- The Dome Project
- Stoa Emporon
In visiting these locations and discussing with project representatives, we wanted to compare and explore fundamental similarities, learn from the experiences in Athens and see in what way institutions are welcoming or even helping these initiatives forward.
A report of our visit will follow soon.
The Hackable City together with Delva Landscape Architects, Stadslab Buiksloterham and Studioninedots present our research and projects in Buiksloterham Amsterdam at the International Architecture Biennial in Rotterdam. Part of the exhibition is an international knowledge exchange with Sao Paulo, Shenzhen and Athens. Which will conclude with visiting Buiksloterham with our international guests and a mini-symposium at the IABR.
