project description ‘3rd I’
V2_ presents the art and education project 3rd I (Third Eye) as part of the exhibition Virtual City. The project will be simultaneously exhibited at Shanghai’s Dutch Culture Centre as part of the World Expo 2010 and in the MKgallery in Rotterdam (the Netherlands).
Models of future and imaginary buildings will be exhibited in Shanghai. These were made by architects and artists, college and university students from China and the Netherlands, who were asked to envision their ideal cities in miniature. Special robots equipped with small video cameras will move down the streets between the models. These “third eyes” can be steered by audience members in Shanghai and Rotterdam and visitors to this website. The Chinese and Dutch visitors will be able to use “telepresence furniture” to communicate with each other.
