project description ‘City as interface of contemporary life’
The city concentrates all the metaphors of the digital age: network, interface, interaction, territory, representation and connection. Between city and experience, the technological interface is presented as a possibility of recognition, knowledge and production of real and potential spatial relations. Taking into account the idea that the analogical ways of representing the city have been overlapped by the digital ones, it has been developed an exercise of representation of São Paulo city based on a semiotic methodology to be applied to the graduate course of interface design. The project consists of recognizing locative media as a tool for mapping personal perceptions of urban life and it aims to establish a narrowing in the channel of communication and production of the contemporary city through the use of mobile technology by means of geo-tagged images, sounds and videos that discuss and represent the materialized city through its cognition.
