Ohyoon Kwon holds BSc in architectural engineering from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. After graduation, he worked as a researcher in the Building Informatics Group at Yonsei University. During his involvement with Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Park project, widely known to be one of the most complex buildings in Korea, his focus was on determining how the application of new modelling programs affects the practice of the project organization. Currently, he is a MSc candidate in Design for Interaction at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft, where he is concentrating on the issue of how mobile technologies transform the everyday practices of people in cities.

project description ‘Visualizations Of The City That Are Preferred By Its Pedestrians’
The presentation “Visualizations Of The City That Are Preferred By Its Pedestrians” will deliver a research project inquiring about the opinions and emotional appreciation of visitors to public spaces in the city center of Delft. The research explored the relationship between pedestrians’ preferences and their movement patterns. That is, how do the good and bad emotions that people attach to certain public places influence their spatial behavior? The presentation will communicate the research within the context of three sub-topics: the mapping technique, as a way to let pedestrians express their experiences; visualization of pedestrian preferences, based on the map of Delft city center; and how the preference maps explain the movement patterns and vice-versa.

The research was conducted as part of the Project Tracking Delft (Project coordinator: assistant Professor Stefan van der Spek), which tracked visitors to the city center of Delft using GPS (Global Positioning System) devices. This project was carried out during an elective course in the Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft.
