Session 5.2 – Effects of sharism

Isaac Mao explains the concept of sharism. A share is a new measurement, currency and capital that you can use to collect and invest with your social network. Pay-off: ‘The more you share, the more you get’.

Mao emphasizes that ‘to share’ doesn’t mean ‘to give away’. Sharism can lead to a sort of cloud-effect, and to a paradigm change. Next to a changing way in doing business, he thinks sharism can lead to a paradigm shift in government, education and media:

  1. The Chinese government should try and open up (and share, for that matter), because the pressure from the audience will increase.
  2. In terms of education, sharing can lead to a paradigm shift that changes the way students are educated. Right now, education is one-way traffic from teacher to student, but students are already using personal sharing tools. Nobody and nothing can stop them from doing this.
  3. Media have already changed, and will change more. The classical top down organization of media is shifting.
