For a long time the term ‘social city’ has been all talk. The workgroup at the ‘Social Cities of Tomorrow’ conference is a stepping-stone to apply theory to practice. Workshop attendees got together this morning at the ‘Arcam’ (Stichting Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam) building to work out how to solve real-world problems.
The workshop is attended by designers, urban planners, architects, hackers and government officials. The question; how can we use digital media to make cities more social, instead of just hi-tech?
After a quick introduction to the workhop by the organizers and a coffee break to refuel, the four real-world cases were presented by people actively involved in the projects. After the lunch cases became teams and the discussions of the cases started.
This afternoon the teams will visit the case-area to start researching the case!
