Kick-off Apps for Amsterdam

On 16 February the Apps for Amsterdam contest will have its kick-off at the Waag in Amsterdam.
Apps for Amsterdam is an initiative to make accessible as much data of Amsterdam as possible. Developers are invited to send in their applications that use available information of the (local) government.
Open Data is important for the economic and social development of the city. Carolien Gehrels, alderman Economic Affairs in Amsterdam, will officially kick-off the Apps for Amsterdam contest. After this, Peter Corbett will tell about the advantages of Open Data. Corbett is CEO of iStrategyLabs and one of the initiators of Apps for Democracy in Washington DC.
The Apps for Amsterdam Contest is a participation between Waag Society, the Municipality of Amsterdam and Hack De Overheid (Hack the Government).
